Well, that holiday is over. It was a good one too. Janice figured out what it all means, Evan got tons of loot, Derek and Heather and Julie and John came over and made cookies and decorated cupcakes with us, Janice and I got each other new clothes. It was really nice. I think the best part was spending a day shopping downtown with my wife. I don't get to see her very often, and quality time is very hard to come by.
Tonight is our anniversary. As of 8:30pm, we will have been married for exactly four years. It will be exactly eight years since our first kiss (in the airport in Minneapolis when she arrived for her first visit). It's been the best eight years of my life so far. Undoubtedly the most difficult and the most rewarding. I'm happy to have spent them with someone who accepts everything I am and everything I am not.
I look around at everything I have, my wife, my son, my house, and I wonder, "How did I get so lucky?"
I don't have an answer. I don't really need one. I'm willing to just accept and be happy.
And while I'm sitting on top of the world, there are hundreds of thousands on the other side of it who could use some help. Please donate to help out the tsunami victims.
